Women in Enterprise (WIE), the GFSB’s dedicated network supporting women across Gibraltar’s business community, hosted its latest workshop this week in with the support of ISOLAS LLP. Women in Enterprise (WIE), hosted by ISOLAS, recently delivered an insightful Breakfast Meeting titled “Time and Energy Management: Aligning Priorities Without Burnout.” The event was organised and designed by Valentina Skachkova, whose preparation shaped the workshop’s flow and interactive elements. As Chair of Women in Enterprise, Carmel Khalilian opened the morning by welcoming attendees and highlighting the importance of equipping women with practical tools for wellbeing and sustainable performance.
The session began with Samantha Grimes, Partner at ISOLAS specialising in employment law, who spoke about the increasing prevalence of stress and mental health challenges in high-pressure professions. She reflected on how burnout often develops gradually while managing demanding clients and competing expectations. Samantha encouraged attendees to recognise when they begin overriding their own needs, reminding them that self-kindness is essential, not optional.
Next, Lyudmyla Kortelyova, drawing on her experience in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency sector, discussed how easily burnout can go unnoticed in fast-paced environments. She stressed the importance of identifying early warning signs, such as declining motivation, overcommitment, irritability, or feeling “stuck”, before exhaustion becomes overwhelming.
The workshop then moved into a practical framework led by Valentina Skachkova, who introduced the DISC behavioural model. Participants explored how different personality types (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Conscientiousness) respond to pressure and what coping strategies work best for each. Valentina also outlined the four stages of burnout: enthusiasm, stagnation, frustration, and apathy, helping attendees understand where they might currently sit on the spectrum.
Readers can reflect on these same tools by asking:
• Which DISC traits feel most like you?
• Which stage of burnout sounds familiar?
• Where can you set one boundary or adjust one expectation this week?
The event closed with a self-assessment exercise and networking, empowering attendees to apply what they learned immediately. Don’t miss these upcoming WIE events:
