International Men’s Day & Prostate Cancer Gibraltar.

November 13 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

International Mens Day:

The GFSB is thrilled to support Prostate Cancer Gibraltar (PCG) and over the next week, we will be issuing more details about how we are getting involved and how you can join us.

The month of November is a pivotal month for men. Men’s health is a topic that is widely talked about during the month. Movements from the Prostate Cancer Gibraltar like the yearly Movember and the November Walnut campaign help to raise awareness of prostate cancer and all eurology problems and encourage men to get themselves checked.

On the 13th of November, the GFSB will be opening its conference room up for a special presentation from Prostate Cancer Gibraltar and looking at some wider issues of Workplace health and well-being which is no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ or an afterthought it is an essential part of the work environment.

The cost of not looking after your employees is high and the evolving demographic of today’s workforce means it’s more important than ever for employers to create effective health and wellbeing initiatives.

Happy employees equal productive employees.
International Mens Day (19th November) also draws attention to Mental Health which is another key issue that is also raised in relation to Men’s issues, as research suggests men are less likely to talk about their problems than women. This can then create conditions of depression and anxiety and in turn, affect the person’s wellbeing. It is strongly encouraged that men experiencing hardship seek help early on, by talking to someone they trust about their issues.

International Men’s Day, is therefore a great opportunity to raise awareness and address key issues affecting boys and men. It is also an important occasion to remind the community and signpost services and resources available locally.
