International / ESBA
The GFSB enjoys a privileged status within the European Small Business Alliance (“ESBA”) as one of its founder members.
ESBA was created in 1998 by a group of independent national small business organisations, with the aim of gathering small business organisation groupings across Europe sharing the same philosophy and ethos and today represents almost 1m small businesses across 35 EU countries. The main aim of ESBA is to support small business entrepreneurs through the provision of all intelligence on EU policies, regulatory initiatives and programmes and via direct representation towards the EU institutions through targeted lobbying activities.
We participate as a Board member through meetings in Brussels and other European countries.
In the past the GFSB has not only vice-chaired ESBA but we have also chaired the World Association of Small and Medium Enterprises at the international level which is a great achievement in itself.
It is also noteworthy that the Federation has signed international co-operation agreements with Sweden and the UK which seek to encourage close co-operation between the respective associations and their members.
