GFSB AT A TANGENT, SAYS SISARELLO
12-Feb-2011Unite District Officer Charlie Sisarello has declared that the Gibraltar Federation of Small Business have come out at a tangent in the exchanges regarding the increase to the statutory minimum wage in Gibraltar.
Mr Sisarello said: “The response of the GFSB did not touch on the fundamental issue raised by Unite. At no time did the Conditions of Employment Board recommend a 1% increase in the statutory minimum wage which was the basis of their original statement.
“We are aware that small businesses have problems and will fully support any measures taken by the Gibraltar Government to protect them and to improve local trading conditions generally. But as a union, we also have to look after the interests of workers.”
